Kara's Aloha Party


So, yesterday was Kara's last day at Marimed. I'm so sad! I'm gonna miss seeing her around the campus. I hope she decides to drop by. Of course, I know I'm gonna see her at her house and at get-togethers, but it won't be the same. Anyway, the Aloha Circle was awesome, and then later we had her goodbye party at the yacht club. Luckily I had actually bought some vegetables to grill the day before, because I didn't have any time to exercise, and I snack too much at parties. I did drink a lot of wine and I ate a lot of food. First I ate a lot of grilled vegetables and shrimp, then I had some of the steak Nate and I made. I also had Mike's spinach rolls and a few pieces of sushi. This morning I woke up feeling a little bit queesy, (I'm sure I felt better than Nate did this morning), but I made myself do a half-hour Gilad workout on TV. I only have these 3-lb weight balls to use for the weight lifting section and I felt a little silly using those for bicep curls. It's funny though, it's been so long since I've lifted weights that my arms are actually a little sore from that little bit of work. Kind of sad. Later I was feeling a little better after a nap and took Titus for a walk/jog. It felt really good. If Titus hadn't been tired I would have kept running. Next time I need to just drop him off and keep going. I don't think I've lost any weight just yet, but I'm feeling good from moving around every day. I have to get out of holiday mode, and start eating better too. Until I change how I eat, I'm never gonna lose any weight, it doesn't matter how much I work out. Especially now that I have a huge box of chocolates from Ang. They are so delicious. I've already eaten several. I'm gonna have to munch on some carrots or something to keep from eating the whole box. Tomorrow I plan on running again, or possibly doing some Gilad workout.

Resolution Check-up


So, so far so good for the new year. Of course, it's only the 4th, but that's okay, a little pat on the back can't hurt. So far this week I've been pretty active. Went walking with Myia on Tuesday for lunch, we actually walked pretty far. Yesterday I went for a run with Myia and Ananda, three miles. It hurt pretty bad, actually, but we all made it and Myia ran off at the end ahead of us. After that I took Titus for a quick run because he was crazy and full of energy, so we did sprints up the road. I'm sure we looked pretty funny, cause I was running as fast as I could. Today I'm gonna walk at lunch again. I've been semi-good with the eating better. Nate and I cooked a pork roast on Monday and Nate spiced the hell out of it. It's pretty good and better for me than most of the food I eat. So we've got a ton of leftovers and I've been working on those all week. I even ate just a taste of hamburger helper last night and substituted more vegetables and some pork. I really need to hit the grocery store for some healthier snacks- I'm thinking Almonds, mozzarella sticks, and some carrot sticks. I'm not as into the vegetable snacks as Myia is.
My plan is to walk again at lunch today and then tomorrow I'll have to do something on my own. Either the TV workout with Gilad or I'll run with Titus. Probably will also hike this weekend, but I'm not totally sure. On Monday I plan to hike with the boys, and then hopefully walk at lunch on Tuesday. I probably won't have a lot of time to do anything on Wednesday, since I've gotta get all my work done and then my flight for Boston leaves that evening. I'll plan on doing some airport walking in between flights. I'm gonna have to plan ahead for some healthy snacks on the flight as well, because usually I bring combos or some other completely delicious, but unhealthy snack. Arin and Anna and Angela are gonna have to be ready to do some walking or running out on the East Coast even though it may be cold and there's not a lot of daylight to take advantage of.
Training for the Great Aloha Run is still my main focus right now, so I'm planning on building up my mileage again and it's gonna have to be soon. The race is on President's day- Feb. 19th. Obviously we can do it, since we managed to finish the half-marathon, although my body needed some major healing afterwards. Myia said that I actually ran 8 miles of the half-marathon, but I don't recall going that far before I started walking. I would like to actually run the whole thing, which would be a huge improvement from last year. Then next year, maybe I'll have a time to beat. I don't even know what my time was from last year, I was so glad to be done I forgot to look.

Happy New Year!

So the New Year has arrived. Myia and I have busily been planning out our goals for this coming year. Well, really for the next few months. I will be blogging more regularly as part of my weight loss goals for this year. My other goals are:
1. Losing 7 pounds by the Aloha Run, which brings me to 150.
2. Run at least once a week with you guys
3. Run once a week with Titus (shorter run.)
4. Walk during lunch at least once a week.
5. South Beach style diet- less refined carbs and unhealthy fat-
started today and doing well.
6. TV workout once a week.

I'm hoping we're gonna hike more often also, but I'm not gonna make that one of my goals. It takes up too much time to make it something I plan on doing every week.
Right now, I'm feeling pretty bloated and fat from all of the holiday eating and drinking. I'm hoping I haven't done irreversible damage to myself.
